Special Collections Action Week and Laidlaw Library opening hours

The University’s Special Collections will be closed on 20-24 August for Action Week.

Staff will be using that week to make material even more accessible to researchers, students and the public.

A spokesperson said: “We apologise if this causes any inconvenience. You can find out more about how to book a visit and view material in Special Collections on our website.”

Special Collections in the Brotherton Library is home to hundreds of thousands of rare books, manuscripts, archives and art. The collections are open to all and offer a rich resource for staff, students and the wider research community.

Services include:

Action Week work will be largely behind the scenes, with staff moving stock to make best use of the storage space and ensure materials are kept in optimal conditions, making them quicker and easier to retrieve.

Customers can email Special Collections during Action Week for further assistance.
