Childcare vouchers scheme applications

Deadlines to register for the University’s childcare vouchers scheme have been announced.

Childcare vouchers offering genuine financial savings are available to University employees through Kiddivouchers. 

These can be used to pay for all sort of childcare, including:

  • holiday schemes
  • childminders
  • before/after-school clubs; and
  • nurseries.

Childcare vouchers are a government scheme aimed at helping working parents. It operates through salary sacrifice, which means parents can opt to get childcare vouchers instead of part of their salary, so the vouchers are free of tax and national insurance. 

Although the government deadline for registration is 4 October 2018, University staff must join and receive vouchers before the payroll-specific deadlines (listed below) if they want to be able to use this type of childcare voucher now or in future. 

For those employees who are not yet a member of the Kiddivouchers scheme, they must order their first vouchers in time to receive them in their September pay. This means for those who are paid mid-month, they must apply by 20 August 2018. Staff paid month-end must apply by 4 September 2018.
