Strike salary reduction money to be allocated

The University and Leeds University Union (LUU) have agreed how to allocate salary reduction monies arising from participation in last term’s strikes.

Salary reductions arising from participation in last term’s strikes totalled just over £1 million.

The University and Leeds University Union (LUU) have agreed that this money should be allocated as follows:

  • £550,000 to a range of student hardship funds;
  • £250,000 to Sanctuary Scholarships, both to increase the number of scholarships available and to help integrate scholars into the University and to provide them with co-curricular opportunities;
  • £250,000 to support widening participation, both to ensure that these students have access to co-curricular opportunities and to address factors which support course continuation and student community building.

The proposals to support course continuation and student community building are being drawn up by LUU.
