Dr Ian Hampton

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 10 March 2018, of Dr Ian Hampton, former Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physiology.

Following posts at what is now the British Antarctic Survey, the Medical Research Council and the University of Hawaii, Ian was appointed as Lecturer in Physiology in 1972, being promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1977.  He retired in 1996 after twenty-four years’ service to the University.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm on Friday 6 April at Lawnswood Crematorium, Otley Road, Adel, LS16 8AA, and afterwards at the Lawnswood Arms, Otley Road, Leeds LS16 7PH.  For catering purposes, if anyone wishes to attend, you are invited to contact Helen Pickersgill in the Secretariat (0113 343 4036, h.j.pickersgill@adm.leeds.ac.uk).

The family have requested that flowers are not sent.  Donations, messages and memories can be made on-line through ianhampton.muchloved.com by cheque made out to the Medical Research Foundation c/o the funeral directors (Kettleys, 35/39 Ivegate, Yeadon, Leeds LS19 7RE); or at the service. 

The flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on 6 April in Ian’s memory.
