Get involved: LGBT Staff Network workshop

The LGBT Staff Network is warmly welcoming LGBTQ+ members to join a workshop to talk about the future development of the network.

The workshop will be held at 4 - 6pm on Wednesday 21 February, in Business School Maurice Keyworth SR 1.03.

If you can’t make it for the start or you can’t stay for the whole workshop, that is fine; please feel free to drop in whenever you can (tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided).

The network provides a safe space to discuss issues that may specifically affect LGBT members of staff as well as offering peer support. You will get involved in a group that ensures the views and concerns of LGBT staff are represented and considered at an organisational level.

It also provides a great space to push new ideas forward. This could include:

  • getting involved in Leeds Pride
  • being part of a city-wide programme of events for LGBT history month
  • collaborating with LUU on LGBT activities
  • encouraging the university to become a Stonewall Diversity Champion
  • sharing thoughts around an area of LGBT life and culture.

There are lots of ways you can be involved in the network whether you are interested in organising socials, feeding into policies and practices at the University, or meeting fellow LGBT members of staff.

The current co-chairs of the network will be stepping down from the end of March and will be looking for interest from staff members who may wish to take a more active role in the network.

If you would like to attend this workshop but will be unable to, or are an LGBT ally, please email any ideas or suggestions to the LGBT Staff Network or equality@leeds.ac.uk
