Head of Research IT appointed

Mike Croucher has been appointed as Head of Research IT.

Mike has a strong background that encompasses both IT and research. He currently works as EPSRC Research Software Engineering Fellow at the University of Sheffield and is co-founder of the Research Software Engineering (RSE) function at Sheffield.

Prior to his time at Sheffield, Mike worked at the University of Manchester as Head of Research Application Software Support for the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Mike will join us in April at which point he will take on responsibility for all advanced and high performance computing services and specialist IT support for research at the University. Mike will be an integral member of the IT Executive Leadership Team, whilst working in close collaboration and partnership with the academic community.

As Head of Research IT, he will report directly to Jim Slack, IT Director, with a dotted reporting line to Peter Jimack, Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering, as the academic lead for Research IT.
