Dr Ed Gouge

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death of Dr Ed Gouge, on 2 January 2018.

Ed joined the (then) Department of Politics as a Lecturer in 1993, and after taking early retirement in 2010 continued to work part-time until 2013 as a Senior Teaching Fellow in POLIS. By then, he had moved from Yorkshire to the Isle of Wight, where he became closely involved in local politics both as a Town Councillor and as Secretary to the Isle of Wight Labour Party.

Whilst at Leeds, Ed headed up the Politics and Parliamentary Studies programme for many years. In doing so, he had an extremely positive impact, not just upon Leeds students, but also on the many U.S. and Canadian exchange students based in Westminster who also still remember him with fondness.

The funeral details will be circulated once known, and a University obituary is being prepared.
