Join us on Monday 4 December to celebrate achievements of postgraduate research at the University. All are welcome.
Book to attend the Leeds Doctoral College Showcase 2017. The celebration will include:
The University of Leeds
Postgraduate Researcher of the Year competition
The Faculty Postgraduate Researcher of the Year from
each of our Faculties will be presenting their research to the assembled
audience and an external judging panel who will select the University's Postgraduate Researcher of the Year 2017.
The Three Minute Thesis
(3MT) competition
A fast moving, research presentation - 11 Postgraduate Researchers from across campus will have three minutes to explain their research targeted for
the non-specialist audience.
Research Image of the
Year competition
Competitors were asked for images that are
attention-grabbing images to intrigue,
inform or excite a lay/non-specialist research audience about your research. Come
and help us judge the images on display on the day.
Keynote presentation
Presentation by Claire Viney, CEO of Vitae/CRAC, the national and international UK organisation that
supports the professional development of researchers. The University is a membership organisation.
Awards ceremony
Vice-Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands, will end the evening

11-11:15am Great Hall: Open and welcome from Professor Claire Honess, Dean of the Doctoral College
11:15am-12:15pm Great Hall: Postgraduate Researcher of the Year four presentations
12:20-1pm UG09 (Off Great Hall Staircase): Lunch and image competition display and voting
1:10-2pm Great Hall: 3MT (11 presentations)
2:05-3:05pm Great Hall: Postgraduate Researcher of the Year four presentations
3:05-3:25pm UG09 (Off Great Hall Staircase): Coffee and image competition final vote
3:30-4pm Great Hall: Awards Ceremony with keynote from Clare Viney (Vitae/CRAC CEO)
44:30 Great Hall: Awards Ceremony announced by Vice-Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands.
Attendance bookings are taken to guide organisers in respect of catering bookings, and health and safety.
You need not attend the whole event. Feel free to drop in and out.
