Emeritus Professor Peter Lawrenson FRS

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 27 October 2017, of Peter Lawrenson, Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Peter joined the University as a Lecturer in 1961 and enjoyed a highly-distinguished career which spanned some 30 years. Peter was made a Reader in 1965 and was elevated two years later to a Personal Chair. He also served as Head of Department between 1974 and 1984. His outstanding record of research and innovation was recognised beyond the confines of the campus by his election to Fellowship of the Royal Society. He was also made a Fellow of Engineering, of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in the USA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday 21 December at 2.00pm at St Oswald's Church, Collingham, Wetherby, LS22 5AU, with refreshments to follow at Linton Memorial Hall (The Pastures, Linton Lane, Linton, Wetherby LS22 4HL). Anyone wishing to attend, should please contact Peter’s daughter, Isobel (isobel_lawrenson@hotmail.com), for catering purposes.
