University of the Year 2017

We’ve enjoyed a year as The Times and Sunday Times University of the Year 2017 but now it’s time to remove banners and email signatures. Take a look at our check list…

Our exceptional student experience saw us named University of the Year 2017 by The Times and The Sunday Times' Good University Guide in September 2016.

Towards the end of September, the University of the Year 2018 will be announced.

After our open day on Saturday 9 September, we’ll remove the University of the Year logo from key positions, including removing printed banners and updating the leeds.ac.uk website.

Individual staff members have a role too: please remove University of the Year from your email signature and check out the full check list below.

Employee checklist
Please take a moment to check you’ve done the following:

  • Email signature: Remove University of the Year logo from your Outlook signature by 11 September. Take a look at IT’s email signature guidelines
  • Materials: Check and update any printed or online materials that you’re responsible for between 11 and 23 September. Historical references, e.g. in blogs, news items etc, are fine to leave as they are. It’s also fine to make reference to the 2017 award in passing in future copy, but this should not be a headline statement and please add in the year 2017 to clarify i.e. ‘University of the Year 2017’.
  • Logo amnesty: If you spot the University of the Year logo being used after 23 September, please let us know! Email internalcomms@leeds.ac.uk and let us know where and when you have seen the logo in use.
  • And please remind your colleagues to do the same!

Legacy
After a year of celebrating, our University of the Year campaign has evolved into our #ToBeLeeds campaign. This means we can continue to celebrate the outstanding student experience at Leeds.
