Join the Health and Safety Network

The Health and Safety Network was set up earlier this year for Health and Safety Coordinators, people who have a specific health and safety role or simply people with an interest in health and safety.

The Network aims to offer members the chance to meet others in similar roles and gain peer support, updates on progress and developments in health and safety, and opportunities to share good practice.

Members of the Network receive an e-newsletter each month (except August) to keep them up to date with health and safety developments.

As a member you can also choose to attend the monthly Network meeting. This takes place usually over a Friday lunchtime in the Health and Safety Services meeting room, and follows a format of:

  • 11.45am light refreshments and networking.
  • 12noon – 1pm meeting agenda items.
  • 1pm – 1.20pm networking.

You are welcome to bring a packed lunch, and we provide tea, coffee, water, hot chocolate and light snacks (often fruit and biscuits – but we are open to requests!).

The agenda items are usually suggested by Network members and the group is still evolving to meet these needs. Topics we have focused on so far include communication, online training and fieldwork risk assessments.

The meetings follow the Chatham House rule so participants are free to use any information they receive during the meeting, but not to identify either the speakers or their affiliation – or that of any other participant at the meeting.

If you are interested in joining the Network, please contact Karen Seed on k.m.seed@leeds.ac.uk with a note of what your interest is in health and safety, and ask Karen to add you to the Health and Safety Network.
