Parkinson pride

To support Leeds Pride and LGBT 50, the University flew the rainbow flag on the Parkinson building and lit up Laidlaw Library and the multi-storey car park this weekend (Friday to Monday morning).

Being an active, positive part of the City and wider community is core to our University values and supporting Leeds Pride reflects this. As part of our wider aim to be a sustainable university, our social, environmental, cultural and economic responsibilities are a priority alongside our commitment to education and research excellence.

Equality and inclusion is a fundamental part of who we are as an organisation, and it is vital that our staff, students and local community feel comfortable and welcome as part of our community. It is important that this is embedded in our culture and our support for Leeds Pride this weekend is just part of our commitment to the celebration of our diversity.

Marking 50 years of LGBT rights in this country is an important milestone and we felt it was important for us to show our support, for what has been achieved but also the work there is still to do.
