Apply now for public/patient involvement funding

Researchers can apply for funding to help develop patient, public or stakeholder involvement in the design of research projects. Deadline 5 January 2018.

Funding of up to £500 is available to help you to include an element of patient, public or stakeholder involvement in the design of your research.

The awards can be used to fund the involvement of members of the public (e.g. interested members of the public, patients, carers, service users and other stakeholders) in shaping or developing research ideas.

The awards are generally used to fund two distinct types of project:

  1. An event or meeting (or series of smaller meetings) to inform a particular research grant application.
  2. An ongoing Patient and Public Involvement or Engagement panel or group in a specific research area, where the need for such a group has been identified. It is advantageous to outline how the ongoing support for such a group will be met.

All applications are reviewed by the Public Engagement with Research team and by members of the panel.

There are three fixed deadlines each year. The next deadline for 2017/2018 is:

5 January 2018

(Later funding rounds will close on 5 May and 5 September 2018.)

There are limited funds for each call.

See the Public Engagement with Research webpages for guidance and an application form.

If you have any questions contact the Public Engagement team (31149).
