Leeds hosts the 131st Christie Championships

Leeds hosted the second oldest varsity competition in the country on 26 April, with the University of Manchester emerging as winners.

The sporting tournament saw more than 1,500 students from the Universities of Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool battle it out across a range of sporting activities, including football, rugby, fencing, hockey and swimming. More than 50 indoor and outdoor fixtures were be played throughout the day at Weetwood playing fields, The Edge and Gryphon sports centres. The facilities at the new Brownlee Centre were also used.

The University of Manchester came out as overall winners, but Leeds triumphed in sports such as hockey, cross country, polo and swimming. Full results can be found here
