Employer Champion Award

We are pleased to announce that the University of Leeds has been awarded an Employer Champion Award by the Science Council.

Science Council

Website: Employer Champion Award

In becoming an Employer Champion the University has set out its commitment to professional standards for all science technicians (and other scientists). The University has committed to invest in staff, and have their staffs skills and competence recognised.

This award also shows the existing commitments the university is making towards their staff development, and shows potential recruits what a great place the university is to work.

The Science Council will be supporting scientific technical staff with professional registration, which provides a framework for developing talent and rewarding high standards at all levels in our workforce. The Technicians’ Network is planning to provide similar help for other technicians in the future.

To celebrate our Employer Champion award the Science Council will fast track a few lucky technicians from Leeds through the professional registration process. The process is still rigorous to ensure standards are met, however extra support and guidance will be provided. On completion, the technicians who have achieved professional registration status will be awarded their certificates on the day our Employer Champion Award is presented to the University.

The Employer Champion Award celebration event will be in late spring/early summer with guest speakers and a buffet lunch. We will be looking for lots of technicians to attend. Please look out for the date via email and/or Technically Speaking.
