BBC Academy's Expert Women programme

Applications for the programme, which aims to increase the number of expert female contributors on air, are now open.

The programme will take place on Friday 31 March 2017 at BBC New Broadcasting House, London, W1. The day will provide skills, insights and networking opportunities to the group, and talent will be highlighted to production staff within the BBC. The day also provides the opportunity to learn about appearing on live and pre-recorded radio and television.

This year the programme is partnered with BBC News, and women experts who are passionate and very knowledgeable about their subject area are encouraged to apply. BBC News are particularly keen to find expert women in the following areas:

  • International relations and diplomacy
  • EU negotiations
  • Local government/social care
  • Politics – particularly from the north of England
  • Policing/security/intelligence/military
  • Law/constitution, particularly Brexit
  • Radicalisation/extremism/ terrorism
  • Women in music – production rather than performance
  • Economics
  • Technology

However applications from all subject areas are welcome. Applications from women from a BAME background, and with disabilities, are particularly welcome.

Once the individual applications are in 24 women will be selected to take part in the day.
