Professor Adam Neville, FREng
Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 6 October 2016, of Professor Adam Neville, FREng, former Professor of Civil Engineering and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering from 1968.
He left Leeds in 1978 to take up the post of Vice-Chancellor at the University of Dundee, a position he held until 1987.
His first book, Properties of Concrete, published in 1963, has been translated into 13 languages and has sold nearly a million copies. In many parts of the world this book is known familiarly as Nevilles concrete bible.
He was also appointed a life president of the American Concrete Association, and served on the Council of the Institution of Structural Engineers and as Vice President of The Royal Academy of Engineering (1992-95).
The funeral service will be held in London on Thursday 20 October 2016.Posted in: Obituaries
