Immigration information sessions
HR has arranged two information sessions for staff who may be concerned or have queries about the effect of the Brexit vote on immigration matters.
Emma Brooksbank, Head of Immigration at Simpson Millar solicitors, will be visiting campus at the following times to explain the current situation to staff and to answer queries. Caroline Langham from HR will also be available to deal with HR queries.
The sessions will cover the current situation for European nationals and their family members in the UK and how their position is anticipated to change in the coming years. They will focus on permanent residence applications and applications to naturalise as a British Citizen. This will include the practicalities of making an application and key areas of difficulty, such as the requirement for certain European nationals to have held Worker Registration and others to have held Comprehensive Sickness Insurance.
In respect of naturalisation applications, Emma will consider the legality or otherwise of requiring European nationals to first secure a permanent residence card.
The sessions will be designed to have room for discussion and there will be ample time at the end for questions.
Please note that neither Emma nor Caroline will be able to give advice on individual cases at these sessions.
