Training exercise at the LGI tomorrow

There will be a 'live decontamination exercise' at the Leeds General Infirmary tomorrow (Saturday 16 July). Please be reassured that this is ONLY AN EXERCISE.

Working in collaboration with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Yorkshire Police, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is carrying out the exercise at the LGI Emergency Department to test the hospital's response to a major contamination incident.

Teams will be making sure that the Trust's decontamination plan works effectively.  This plan would be put in place to safely decontaminate members of the public and to prevent the wider contamination of patients, public and staff.

Decontamination equipment will be set up outside the Emergency Department and willing volunteers will be acting as 'contaminated casualties' to be decontaminated as part of the exercise.

Banners and posters will be displayed around the site to reassure and to advice the public that an exercise is taking place.

Please do not be alarmed if you witness any part of the exercise.

Campus facilities, including The Edge, will be open as usual.
