Workers’ Memorial Day 2016

The ceremony will take place on Thursday 28 April.

All staff and students are invited to join senior managers, staff and trade union representatives outside the LUU Building between 12.30 and 12.45 to commemorate those people killed at work across the world.

Speakers will launch the event at 12:45 followed by a 1 minute silence.

The speakers include Francesca Fowler, Director of Human Resources, Paul Veevers, Head of Health and Safety Services and Robin Fishwick, Chaplin.

Those attending will then walk to St George’s Field (weather permitting) to place the wreaths at the foot of the Workers’ Memorial Day tree where the University has planted appropriately, purple and white coloured crocuses, white representing forgiveness and purple representing dignity.
