Emeritus Professor Anthony (Tony) Alan Clifford
Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 29 March 2016, of Emeritus Professor Anthony (Tony) Clifford, former Professor of Chemical Technology in the School of Chemistry.
Tony was appointed as Lecturer in Physical Chemistry in 1966 to develop i.r. spectroscopy on surfaces. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1978, Reader in 1991 and to Professor of Chemical Technology in 1997. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Tony was widely known for his roles associated with Bodington Hall: he was Warden of Seton House during 1974-81 and Chairman of Wardens from 1978-80.
The funeral service will be held at 1.40pm on Wednesday 27 April at Lawnswood Cemetery, Otley Road, Adel, Leeds, LS16 6AH. There will also be a gathering afterwards at Hinsley Hall Pastoral and Conference Centre, 62 Headingley Lane, Leeds, LS6 2BX where all are welcome.
The flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral and an obituary is being prepared.
