An On Your Marks knowledge and networking event on 29 April 2016 will focus on renewable energy and the challenges presented to individuals, business and the UK economy.

On your marks

As part of the University’s strategic partnership with Marks and Spencer, guest speakers will include M&S’ Energy Efficiency Programme Manager, Maria Spyrou; Jens Wolf, Regulation and Markets Director from Drax Power and Professor Wändi Bruine de Bruin, of Leeds University Business School. Guest speakers from the renewable sector and M&S will explore how we can embrace renewable energy and how to overcome some of the challenges associated with change.

Taking place on Friday 29 April, the event will be hosted by Tim Cockerill, Professor of Efficient Energy Utilisation, on behalf of Energy Leeds. This high profile event is free to attend, and will showcase the University’s impact in changing climate policy, as well as our commitment to becoming a greener institution. Energy is one of our key research themes at the University and Energy Leeds brings together the University’s world-leading researchers to tackle one of the greatest challenges of the 21st Century.

Introduced in June 2012, the On Your Marks lecture series has celebrated the unique collaboration between the University and M&S, following the launch of the M&S Company Archive at a purpose-built location at the University. The series has attracted over 3,500 delegates to date, and brings a range of benefits, including:

  • Raising awareness of the strategic partnership with M&S internally and externally
  • Attracting senior M&S executives to the Archive and University, opening up opportunities to discuss collaboration
  • Creating wider opportunities to engage corporate partners and further develop relationships
  • Bring together students, academics, business and wider public to learn and network.

The series continues to grow in size with greater representation from decision makers in industry and senior academic colleagues from across the University.
