John Michael Anderson

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on Sunday 13 March 2016, of John Michael Anderson (“Andy”).

Andy was a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art Practise with the School of Design and retired from the University in 2010.  He began teaching at Bretton Hall College in 1974, where he was later appointed as Head of the School for Art and Design.  He was responsible for the print of Bretton Hall Park which all staff who did not transfer to the University in 2007 received, the original of which is held in the School of Performance and Cultural Industries.

Andy was a former Warden for the Wakefield Campus and will be remembered by many as a very genuine, gentle and humorous man.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and our sincerest condolences are sent to his wife, June, and family.

The funeral service will be held at 3.00pm on Thursday 31 March 2016 at Wakefield Crematorium, Standbridge Lane, Crigglestone, Wakefield WF4 3JA, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast in Andy’s memory.
