Leeds alumni leading the way across the globe
Leeds is proud to have five finalists in the Education UK Alumni Awards.
The Awards honour the outstanding achievements made by business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders across the globe who can demonstrate how their UK education has contributed to their subsequent success.
Our five finalists are:
Aman Bir Singh (India)
(BEng Automotive Engineering): Entrepreneurial category
After graduation, Aman returned to India and founded RASCO Automotive Company, an engineering design consultancy. Today he is the managing director and received professional recognition in 2012 by getting Chartered Engineer (CEng) status from IMechE UK and Engineering Council UK.
Oluwasijibomi Ojajuni (Nigeria)
(MA Public Health): Social Impact category
Oluwasijibomi is the Research Director of Hacey's Health Initiative, a development organisation focused on improving the health and productivity of vulnerable people in Africa.
Oke Maduewesi (Nigeria)
(MBA): Entrepreneurial category
Oke is the founder of Zaron, a cosmetics business for people of colour. Zaron prides itself on its Corporate Social Responsibility activities and works with the poor and widowed to improve their lives. She says: "I say this with no reservations: I definitely wouldn't have been able to build a successful & recognised business as I have without the experience at Leeds Business School."
Allison Sawyer (USA)
(MSc Molecular Nanoscience): Entrepreneurial category
Allison is the CEO of Rebellion Photonics, a company focused on Oil and Gas safety with their Gas Cloud Imaging camera for continuous monitoring of explosive gas leaks.
Dr Nousheen Zakaria (Pakistan)
(PhD Business and Economics): Entrepreneurial category
Nousheen studied at the Business School, after gaining her MSc in Management at the University of Sheffield. As Co-Founder and CEO of Out of the Box Ltd, U.K and The Code It Company, Pakistan, she is responsible for releasing some of the newest and most innovative apps and websites to support the local industry as well as global clients.
