Chinese new year dinner

The Yorkshire and Humber Chinese New Year Dinner is an annual business networking event organised by the Business Confucius Institute at the University with support from UKTI, China Britain Business Council, and DLA Piper.

The wide range of businesses in attendance was a testament to the depth and breadth of the activity in the region. Individuals involved in building and strengthening the links between China and the Yorkshire region enjoyed the opportunity to share their experiences and celebrate the successes of the past year.

Special guests included The Lord Mayor of Leeds Judith Chapman; Councillor Judith Blake; and Leeds Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor David Hogg, all of whom expressed their pride in the City of Leeds and the ties it has established with China.

A panel discussion hosted by Greg White of the Yorkshire Post gave attendees the opportunity to learn from others who are doing business with China. Panellists Diane Simpson (Hainsworth); Julian Turner (Westfield Sports Cars); Chris Duley (Call Credit); and Eric Hawthorn (Radio Design), shared their challenges and successes before taking questions from the floor.
