Joining forces to Create Sustainable Futures

The University's Discovery Theme, Creating Sustainable Futures, has won the Learning and Skills category at the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) awards.

Green gown awards

Creating Sustainable Futures, a University Discovery Theme, has been recognised for developing academic courses, skills and capabilities relevant to sustainability.

Sustainability joined forces with the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) and the Student Education Service (SES) to support the development and delivery of the Creating Sustainable Futures Discovery Theme and add a practical, applied context for learning sustainability related skills.

William Young, Theme Leader, said: "This award represents the great collaboration of staff from across the University’s Faculties and Services. It means students get the multi-disciplinary theories and the practical experience that will broaden their horizons, so that they can contribute to solving the sustainability issues we face."

The award helps the University to demonstrate to its community and student partners that working together makes sense.  It shows they take their commitments to social, environmental and economic sustainability seriously, and that by working closely with others, they can continue to have a positive impact on society.
