Professor S Barry Cooper - Funeral Details

As previously announced, Professor Barry Cooper sadly died on 26 October 2015.

The funeral service will be held at St Chad's Church, Otley Road, Leeds LS16 5JT at 11.45am on Thursday 12 November. Although the funeral is being held in a church, this will not be an overtly religious service but will be held, as Barry wished, in a Quaker style.

There will be an introduction by his dear friend and long-time colleague, Stan Wainer, followed by contemplative silence during which anyone can stand up and speak as they feel moved to do so. These contributions can be anything you would like to say, be that a poem that has helped you, or a memory of Barry, or an anecdote of times you shared with him. It is hoped that some contributions will be musical.

There is no dress code – please just come as yourself. All are most welcome.

After the funeral there will be a gathering at St Chad's Parish Hall from 1-4.30pm where friends can meet, have refreshments, and share memories of Barry.

Before joining the gathering in the hall, the family will be travelling to Yeadon Cemetery to lay Barry to rest.  Anyone who wishes to join the family will be very welcome.

The flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral and an obituary is being prepared.
