Give your research a unique identity

The University’s Publications Policy encourages staff to register for an ORCiD identifier: a unique digital tag which can help your work to be correctly attributed.

An ORCiD identifier can be applied to research outputs, awards and professional activities, allowing these items to be linked.

See how to register and use an ORCiD identifier.

Registration is free, straightforward and quick.  Some research funders (for example the Wellcome Trust) already require applicants to use an ORCiD identifier, as do some publishers.  The University has recently taken out a subscription to ORCiD which will allow us to use the IDs within University systems; plans are underway to allow staff to add their ORCiD identifier to their personal record via Employee Self-Service. This facility is scheduled to be available by December 2015.
