Governor opportunities for internal staff

Schools in the Bradford area need your skills and expertise. Could you volunteer to help ensure they provide the best possible education to their pupils?

One of the ways the University wants to promote engagement with schools is by offering the opportunity to staff to act as school governors. There has been liaison with an external organisation, SGOSS Governors for Schools, who help to place staff into schools.

You can get involved by volunteering as a school governor; to help to provide the strategic leadership and accountability that ensures schools perform to the absolute best of their abilities. Governors have a similar role to charity trustees, and develop transferrable professional skills whilst influencing the education of hundreds of children and young people.

This responsibility would mean attending eight to 10 meetings a year, with an initial time commitment of around four hours a month outside of work time, increasing only if you wish.
