Help to improve our promotions system
There is still time to book a place at one of the workshops aimed at reviewing our promotions criteria.
As part of the University's review of its current promotions system we are inviting all staff to a series of open meetings to review and feedback on the language used in the new promotions criteria. The main purpose of the sessions is to remove gender or other biases in the written criteria and ensure that all groups of staff feel included and confident to apply for promotion.
Six open meetings have been organised across campus, the purpose of these will be to:
- review the language used within the criteria (circulated at the meeting), and whether this presents a barrier or excludes certain groups of staff from applying
- provide alternative suggestions.
Professor Steve Scott (Dean of the faculty of MaPS and Institutional / Academic Athena SWAN lead) and Jenny Creagh (Head of Reward, Recruitment and Resourcing) will be leading the open meetings for academic and professional/ managerial and support staff; supported by HR and the Equality Policy Unit.
Leading this work Professor Scott states: "As part of our commitment to recognising excellence we want to ensure all staff receive appropriate support and encouragement to develop their careers at Leeds. These open meetings will play a vital role in shaping our approach to promotions and all members of staff are welcome to attend. We would particularly encourage those from underrepresented groups to be involved."
