UTravelActive Summer walking challenge

Can your team walk the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats in six weeks?

Students walking across campus

UTravelActive and Leeds Beckett University have opened up this year’s summer walking challenge to the University, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Leeds Trinity University.

Teams of up to five members of staff or students can sign up to the challenge which runs from Monday 11 May to Sunday 21 June.

Each team member will need a pedometer which can be picked from the UTravelActive stall outside the Union (Wednesday 6 May, 11am-3pm), or at the Velocampus Leeds Bike Hub (open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 12pm - 4pm). Alternatively, there are many pedometer apps available for smartphone users to download.

To complete the challenge, teams need to walk a total of 874 miles; the distance between Land's End and John O'Groats.

Weekly logs need to be sent to UTravelActive who can then send an updated map of your team’s progress.

There will be spot prizes every week and a prize draw to win a hamper for the teams that log their steps every week.
