Cassandra won the 'Inspirational Student Nurse of the year' award in 2014, which recognises nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty and through their pioneering efforts have improved patient care.

Cassandra has also set up a peer student group to help students with mental health problems as well as leading a student campaigning and welfare group to represent the mental health needs of 33,000 students at Leeds. She ran successful campaigns, including 'The Elephant in the Room' which has been replicated by other UK universities, and also set up informative events and workshops, coordinating volunteers to go to schools to talk to young people about mental health.
