Professor B E C (Chris) Nordin

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 27 October 2014 and at the age of 94, of Professor Chris Nordin.

Professor Nordin was former Director of the Medical Research Council Mineral Metabolism Research Unit and Professor of Mineral Metabolism.

Chris was a highly idiosyncratic enthusiast and possessed an extraordinary, broad-based, intellect. In a research career extending over some 60 years he was responsible for insights fundamental to an understanding of the pathogenesis and rational management of osteoporosis.  After his resignation in 1981, he took up a position as Senior Research Fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, after which followed more than three decades of productive research and scholarship.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday 6 November in Australia, on which day the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast.

An obituary is being prepared.
