Anthem for Doomed Youth will present poems and music carefully chosen to commemorate and reflect the experiences of people caught up in the tragedies of war, in particular the First World War. Sir Andrew will read his own work and poems by Wilfred Owen and Geoffrey Hill, reflecting on the futility of war, interweaved with Ian’s performance of Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, miniatures by Elgar, Bridge, Ireland and Bainton, and Variations by Webern, who was shot and killed by accident in the last days of the Second World War.

The concert will take place in the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall at 7.30pm. To apply for tickets, please email giving your name and department/school.  Tickets will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
