Have your say on the future of the North
How can the UK build on the strengths of the North to create an economic core in the heart of the region that can compete with the biggest cities in the world? Submit your ideas.
The Northern Futures project, launched in July by the Deputy Prime Minister, is inviting everyone to join an online debate about rebalancing the UK economy and decentralising power.
Northern Futures will be tweeting and publishing other material on some of these themes over the next couple of weeks:
- How do we spark transformational innovation and growth in key industries?
- What would a radical package of decentralising measures look like for the North?
- What are the top priorities for networking and upgrading the transport infrastructure?
- How can we create a talent pool in the North that’s the envy of the world?
- How do we make the North a testbed for new technology and sustainability?

All the ideas put forward online will be discussed at the project’s Open Ideas Days in cities across the North of England on 16 October.
From 17 October, the public will be asked to rate the ideas on the project website to help decide which should be taken forward to a Northern Futures Summit in Leeds on 6 November.
