Confucius Festival (23 - 27 September)

To mark ten years since the founding of the first Confucius Institute, the University will celebrate with a week of local business and community events.

The institute opened in Leeds as part of Leeds University Business School in 2012, one of only three Business Confucius Institutes in Europe.

The week will celebrate Chinese culture and the country’s business expertise.  This year’s theme is ‘Embracing Chinese Culture in Yorkshire’ and will feature a business conference and a free festival open to all.

Businesses in West Yorkshire will be able to capitalise on the opportunity to meet China’s industry experts and gain insight into how Chinese businesses work.  The ‘Making Noise in China’ business event (Thursday 25 September) will provide a window for local businesses to get involved with the Chinese companies and  broaden the University’s cultural links.

Members of the public are also invited on Saturday 27 September to find out more about Chinese culture and take part in the art of paper cutting, a tea ceremony and a calligraphy competition.

Other events celebrating the anniversary include a business breakfast on Tuesday 23 September and an exclusive talk on Chinese business culture by influential business woman Iris Cai.

A full programme of events is available.
