Triathlon win for Alistair Brownlee
Congratulations to Leeds alumni Alistair and Jonny Brownlee who won a gold and silver medal respectively in the Triathlon at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Olympic champion Alistair – who studied Sports and Exercise Sciences at the University – beat his brother into second place, finishing 11 seconds ahead with a time of one hour 48 minutes and 33 seconds.
Speaking after the race Alistair said: "That's all you can want from a race. It was tough right from the start to the finish. I really enjoyed it - Jonny was brilliant too.
"This is the goal I wanted to achieve for the season and I've done it now. Now I've done everything I've wanted to do in my career – I don't know what to do now."
