Supporting mature and part-time students
Share your examples of good practice in supporting mature and part-time students with the Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) and the Leeds University Union (LUU).
The LLC and LUU have been working together with mature and part-time students and Student Support Officers to discuss their experiences and the challenges they face. The aim of this work is to create a guide to good practice and training for student-facing staff.
Do you have examples of good practice that you could share? For example:
- Does your department recognise students with dependants and ensure that they are matched with placements close to their home address?
- Do personal tutors adapt their meetings and questions for mature students?
- How does your department work with mature students who have previous career experience and skill sets, financial hardship, childcare or academic challenges?
