University launches Equality & Inclusion Framework
The University has shown its commitment to delivering an inclusive experience for staff and students through the development of its first Equality & Inclusion Framework.

At Leeds we passionately believe in offering equality of opportunity and experience within a sustainable and supportive environment.
Equality of opportunity, fairness and inclusion are the foundation of our global community at the University, and a vital enabler that will help us realise our University strategy.
This commitment is reflected in the development of the Universitys first Equality & Inclusion (E&I) Framework, created with input from key stakeholders, which reflects our ongoing commitment to equality and inclusion and recognises its importance in helping us achieve our strategic objectives.
The framework includes, among other things:
- the equality vision for the University
- priorities identified to embed this vision
- a statement of rights and responsibilities for staff and students through a revised equality & inclusion policy
- organisational structures to monitor the implementation of the Framework.
Professor Dawn Freshwater, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Staff and Organisational Effectiveness, said: Our commitment to develop this Framework demonstrates how we aspire to go above and beyond our legal duties and translate our value of inclusiveness throughout our culture, business and day-to-day organisational practice.
What happens next?
The next phase of the project is the implementation stage which will see the further development of the action plans for each priority which were set through initial staff and student consultation in 2013.
