SEE Research Fellow Chris Davies wins Royal Astronomical Society Award
Dr Chris Davies, a NERC Research Fellow from the School of Earth and Environment, has been awarded the Royal Astronomical Society 2014 Winton Capital Award in geophysics.
The Award has been made in recognition of the impact of Dr Davies' contributions to studies of the core geodynamo responsible for maintaining the Earths magnetic field.
Dr Davies has investigated the effects, for example, of how conditions at the earth's core-mantle boundary can influence the geomagnetic field structure. The Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) judges said: "This is a seminal contribution that will stimulate studies of the earths deep interior for some time to come."
