Help us plan a new Library exhibition gallery

We are creating a new Library exhibition gallery in the Centenary Gallery space in the Parkinson Building. Give us your views on what this could look like.

There will be a Treasures Gallery for the permanent display of many of our most celebrated manuscripts and printed books, and a second gallery for changing exhibitions (two each year) based on our enormous range of distinctive collections, often with topical and local connections. We will also retain much of the present Centenary Gallery space for events directly associated with the exhibitions.

The initial development of this project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) with further generous financial support from the Brotherton family. Further, detailed proposals will be considered by the HLF in mid-2014 and, if approved, the new exhibition spaces will be created to open in late 2015, with further HLF funding.

While the main HLF objective is to enhance the experience of non-members of the University, we expect the new exhibition space to offer great opportunities to members of the University, particularly in helping to create exhibitions and exploit them with public events.

We invite you to a meeting in the Brotherton Room at 5.15pm on 11 December 2013 to hear more about the Gallery project and give us your views.  Refreshments will be served!

We have limited capacity for this event so please email Special Collections by 9 December to book your place.
