Do you have a son or daughter in Year 13?

The Market Research & Insight Team is looking to invite staff with a child in Year 13 and going through the process of applying to university for 2014/2015 to take part in an Applicant & Staff Panel.

This would involve participation by parent and applicant in an introductory group discussion in early December (taking part in the early evening on campus), taking no longer than 90 minutes. Sandwiches and refreshments will be served. In addition, applicants will also be asked to participate in an online community feeding back their experiences throughout the process. Parents and/or applicants may be invited to further group discussions as and when the need arises.

The undergraduate recruitment cycle has changed significantly. In the last few years universities have started using a range of new marketing channels and methods to promote themselves to prospective students. One challenge for Leeds is to keep ahead of these developments each year and to understand how new communication methods impact on the decision-making process of prospective students.

Early this year the Market Research & Insight Team started to involve members of the University community who had a son or daughter who were at the time going through the process of applying to University, in helping to better understand the changing nature of undergraduate decision-making behaviour.

Due to the wealth of insight and valuable information gained through this process the team is keen to build on the success of this feedback mechanism and repeat the exercise with a new set of applicants.

As a thank you for their participation your son or daughter would receive a £10 Amazon voucher per group session attended and up to £50 for completing tasks as part of contribution to the online community (also paid via Amazon vouchers).

If you are eligible and interested in taking part please go to the website before 1 December, to register your interest by completing the short screening questionnaire. You will then be contacted to confirm arrangements.

If you require further information or have any questions please contact Thomas Hallam or Anja Simpson.
