4,000+ students to express themselves in new research project by LUU
Leeds University Union has recently launched a campaign to get over 4,000 students involved in a new piece of research that will help to shape their priorities over the next four years.
One element of the 'Express Yourself' project is a 25 minute survey which enables students to express how they really feel being a student at Leeds. The research will cover everything from mental and physical health right through to feelings about money, safety and barriers to Union involvement.
This huge piece of quantitative research follows a number of focus groups which have already been conducted with students to understand the biggest issues facing them right now.
Bradley Escorcio, Union Affairs Officer commented: “The results of this research will be used to shape the future of the Union and student services. This is the biggest piece of research the Union has ever done and it’s so important that we gather responses from as many students as possible”
Bradley added: “Our current four year strategic plan has been immensely successful, but we must challenge ourselves to do even better and ensure the Union develops further to meet the needs and challenges that all our members face. I feel this research will enable us to do so.
We want to understand the truth behind the student experience, the good and the bad. Only by truly understanding every aspect of our members’ lives can we be there for them.”
This research forms part of Leeds University Union’s Strategic Review, a process which takes place every four years, where students, the University, Union staff and external stakeholders are consulted on what the Union needs to focus on and deliver over the next four year period.
The current strategic plan comes to an end on 31 July 2014 and the new strategic plan will launch on 1 August 2014.
