Colleague wins International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Publication Award 2013
Dr Costas Velis, School of Civil Engineering, won the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Publication Award 2013, which recognises outstanding publication in the solid waste field.

The publication award honours the author(s) of a publication, article or book deemed to be exceptional in its contribution to the field of solid waste management
His article "An analytical framework and tool (InteRa) for integrating the informal recycling sector in waste and resource management systems in developing countries, published in the journal Waste Management and Research, deals with the importance of the informal recycling sectorpoor people processing waste outside the commercial systemto waste disposal in developing countries. It offers a practical framework for designing initiatives to integrate this sector into formal waste management systems.
