The publication award honours the author(s) of a publication, article or book deemed to be exceptional in its contribution to the field of solid waste management

His article "An analytical framework and tool (‘InteRa’) for integrating the informal recycling sector in waste and resource management systems in developing countries”, published in the journal Waste Management and Research, deals with the importance of the informal recycling sector—poor people processing waste outside the commercial system—to waste disposal in developing countries. It offers a practical framework for designing initiatives to integrate this sector into formal waste management systems.
