Dawn is currently Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Staff and Organisational Effectiveness and Professor of Mental Health. She has been at Leeds since 2006, and was Head of the School of Healthcare before taking up her Pro-Vice-Chancellorship in 2011.

Vice-Chancellor Sir Alan Langlands commented: "I am really pleased for Dawn – this is a great opportunity for her – but I am personally disappointed that she will be leaving Leeds.  She is a great asset to the senior team, and to the University as a whole, and we shall miss her.  I’m glad however that she won’t lose touch completely:  Dawn will be retaining a research interest at Leeds."

Announcing her appointment, Dawn herself said: “The seven years at Leeds have been some of the most productive academic years of my career, but I am delighted to be taking up this exciting leadership role and the associated challenges.  I will of course be maintaining a strong connection to Leeds at a strategic level, and see this as an opportunity to strengthen international collaborations for both universities.”
