The brief for the competition was 'a picture that sums up your placement year with no more than 50 words to describe what the picture means to you'.

1st Prize Dan Waldron - Social Policy and Crime

‘I worked with Todd one on one for 6 months and without being too dramatic it changed my life. My perception of individuals with disability completely changed and to see his personality shine and completely over shadow the struggles he goes through daily was completely inspiring for me and this picture epitomizes that thought.’

2nd prize Hannah Cummings – Textile Design

‘This picture shows a highlight of my placement year, where I watched a hat I had constructed being modelled and photographed for Jane Taylor's 'lookbook'. This moment filled me with excitement and ambition.’

3rd Prize Michael Lawson – Geological Sciences

‘Creating 11 maps that span 200-145 million years ago when dinosaurs were at their peak, I have reconstructed what the world looked like. Now published and sold for large amounts of money, oil companies such as Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil etc. use them to help find oil and gas deposits.’
