Charles Drake

It is with considerable sadness that we let members know that Emeritus Professor Charles Drake died on 2 August 2013.

Appointed Professor of English Law in 1972, Professor Drake had an international reputation in the field of employment law and was often called upon to act as arbitrator in disputes brought before the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS). He also served as Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Law. Professor Drake retired in 1989.

The funeral service took place on Saturday, 10 August 2013, when, in Professor Drake’s memory, the flag was flown at half-mast on the Parkinson Building.

A full obituary will be published shortly.
