LUU Student Advice Team's recognised for innovative approach
Leeds University Union's Student Advice Team has won the National Association of Student Money Advisers 'Innovative Activity Award 2013'

The National Association of Student Money Advisors, NASMA, ran the student money advice awards this year in June. The Student Advice Centre in partnership with 'Essentials' supermarket in LUU won the Innovative Activity award for their food parcels project. The award is given to a person or service which can demonstrate the greatest innovation with the intention of improving their support for students.
The idea behind the project came from an increase of students in hardship coming to the Advice Centre. Some of these had little money for food and the idea was formed for food parcels. The parcels contain enough food for 1 adult per week. The food parcels come with a meal plan designed by Student Advice employee and dietetics student, Naomi Wildgoose. The food parcels are provided and bagged by the LUU supermarket - Essentials.
