The festival  seeks to encourage visitors into museums, galleries and heritage sites by throwing their doors open after hours and putting on special evening events.

Events taking place are as follows:

Art in the Afterlife: Performance by Tryptich, the Theatre Company of Students at the School of Performance and Cultural Studies

"After killings time in a clinical waiting room, you are led to a crossroads. One path will take you down the road to ethereal beauty, the other to a world of grotesque hedonism."

Inspired by Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, the performance by students from the School of Performance and Cultural Industries will be guiding the weary visitor through heaven, hell and purgatory.

On:   Thursday 16 May

At:   5-7pm

In:   The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery

This is a free performance but places are limited so please book online, by email, or by telephone (x32778).

Future Proof: Amy Hirst’s Interactive Installation

Amy Hirst ’s thoughtful interactive installation addresses questions at the heart of any Gallery: Why do we collect certain things? What does the art and artefacts we collect and preserve for the future say about us? What would you preserve for future generations to enjoy?

Inspired by the Gallery’s collection and current exhibition ‘Jewish Artists in Yorkshire’, Amy invites you to play your part in shaping the future. Transform, hide and reveal treasured objects for posterity!

On:  Friday 17 May

At:   5-6.30pm

In:   The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery

This event is free and all are welcome. No booking necessary.

The workshop will take place:

On:  Saturday 18 May
