Mrs Nora Morby

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 24 April 2013, of Mrs Nora Morby, former member of staff in the Establishment and Personnel Office.

Nora Morby took up a clerical post in the ancillary services section of the Bursar’s Office in February 1968.  She came to the University with a wealth of previous clerical experience and glowing references from her previous employer, the Parkway Hotel in Leeds, where her competence, amiable nature and utter dependability had made her a model employee.  These same qualities she demonstrated in abundance in her University duties.  Initially responsible for a range of accounting procedures, Nora transferred to the Establishments and Personnel Office in 1969.  During the ensuing years, she was involved in a wide variety of personnel functions, eventually becoming PA to the head of the office, Brian Binns.  Throughout her time at Leeds, Nora proved herself a thoroughly capable and charming colleague, displaying a complete mastery of her responsibilities and an unfailingly friendly and cheerful demeanour, whatever the demands on the office.

Nora retired from her University post in 1984.

Nora is survived by her husband, Alan, and son, Graham.

The funeral service will take place at 3.40pm on Thursday 2 May 2013, at Rawdon Crematorium, Leeds Road, Rawdon, LS19 6JP.

In Nora’s memory, the flag will be flown at half-mast on the Parkinson Building on 2 May.
